LangFest FB Live

I’ll be joining my friends Tetsu, Joey, and Nicolas — three of the organisers of the excellent annual LangFest polyglot event in Montréal, Canada on their regular FB Live cast. I spoke at LangFest 2018 on intermediate language learning and overcoming language learning plateaus, and hope to share some info on other topics and projects I’m working with, from voice-tech (which I’ll be moderating a panel on at Mobile Growth Summit in February) to digital reading and cognition.

Find the livecast here on Facebook!

Fronteers 11

I'm heading back to Amsterdam for Fronteers Conf again, thanks to the kind alumnus invitation extended to me by the organisers. I had a blast debuting Perfectly Portable v2.0 there, and making some lovely new friends and hanging out with old ones in a super-inclusive community. I’ll be beta-testing an all-new topic in the lightning talks hosted at the Jam Session, and if all turns out well I’ll develop it into a full-scale keynote for 2019. Going? Hit me up and let's connect!

Polyglot Gathering 2018

I'll be attending the Polyglot Gathering 2018 and getting back together with my friends and colleagues from the polyglot community for another few days of fun, learning, and speaking languages!

I'll be presenting a new talk called『らくらくでペラペラよ!』: Japanese through onomatopoeia!", designed to introduce newcomers to Japanese language and culture to the useful and sociolinguistically rich system of Japanese onomatopoeia.

Polyglot Conference 2017 | Reykjavík, Iceland

It's been four months since the Polyglot Gathering in Bratislava, and I missed out on Langfest in Montreal in August, so Polyglot Conference is a must-go for me. Reykjavík in late-October is going to be freezing, exhilarating magic. Looking forward to reconnecting with some of the fantastic people from the polyglot community!

Ég er enn að vinna á tungumálakunnáttu mína í undirbúningi.

Put in a submission to the CFP, and still holding out for a last-minute addition, so talk is TBD.

Dimitris Polychronopoulos (Yozzi.com) and I will be hosting a panel examining language learning in Post-Brexit UK at London's Language Show as part of their Seminar Programme for language and education professionals.

Our panel will be focussing on the current state of language education in the post-Brexit UK, and concrete strategies for keeping language lessons fun and interesting, as well as cultivating and fostering multilingual- and polyglot-friendly atmospheres in the classroom.

The Seminar Programme is subject to a nominal additional fee outside of the Language Show's free admission, however we invite you as part of our community to receive a 10% discount on that fee, which will admit you for £9. You can take advantage of this discount and the Seminar Programmes fantastic selection of sessions here. Feel free to share the link!

Perfectly Portable v2.0 will be making its debut at Fronteers 10 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands!

I'm excited to be presenting this expanded, updated version of my talk on how the Japanese development mobile web has shaped how we approach mobile web development to this day. I'll be incorporating feedback from past presentations, and looking forward to going deeper into the topic, with a look at how similar test-markets are working today.

More on Perfectly Portable v2.0 here

Got an idea about something you'd like to see me cover in this version of Perfectly Portable? Let me know in the comments below, or via Twitter or other social media, or email.
